Hi all,
I am due to be flying from the UK to Orlando in September and I have prebooked a standard two door car with Alamo on their Gold Package scheme. I want to upgrade to a convertible, and would it be cheaper to upgrade in advance through my travel agent or wait until I actually collect the car on the day. I just don’t want to run the risk of there not being a suitable car on the day. I remember Dollar cut me a great deal on the day a few years back, but this was in rainy season. Also, what kind of I.D. do you need to present with the Gold package? Seeing that everything is prepaid, do you still need to give a credit card swipe?

Thanks in advance,

And where can I get the great offers in SA?

And to hire, is the a cheaper alternative to hire the 4 x 4 cars than the offers that get advertised by the airlines in South Africa?

lease and hire companies have to dispose of the cars once they reach a certain age or mileage..im trying to find out if i can buy one direct from them, say National car rental or Enterprise at discount instead of going through auctions or dealers etc. do they have to sell in bulk to dealers or can they sell them direct to the public? is there anyone that can get them cheap? thanks

I’m flying into Sydney and out of Sydney – other than that I don’t know what I’m doing. I’m willing to take internal flights and am thinking of starting at Cairns, working my way down. Any ideas, cheap accomodation, budget car hire – gratefully received!

HI, I am a carer for a sick aged man in his 70’s who has not had the enjoyment of a holiday in well over a decade or so. Does anyone know wher I can hire a cheap old bomb car and find cheap accommodation down south of NSW, as this may be his last. Just looking at about a coulpe of days to a week near the coast down south. I dont have much money as his carer I had to give up my job so financially things are tight. So if anyone knows 1. where I can hire a cheap car for a week and 2. where we can find accommodation south coast NSW near water, I would be greatful and you would be helping out an old man. Can call Duncan on 0425362070 or email duncanwilkie@yahoo.com.au. Thankyou. Cheers

I have two weeks – flying in to Montreal from the UK, then back from New York. We ideally want a road trip so we can explore places slightly off the beaten track (we want to go via thousand islands for example). Car hire between the two is really expensive though… Does anyone have any suggestions for cheap ways of travelling around, cheap car insurance, any other novel ideas, etc? Thanks

I always find it ironic when someone who fled their country of extreme poverty, then when they get here to the US, they criticize us. Its true if we expel all the illegals the price of our fruit will go up. But I think that is a lot cheaper than hiring an illegal for $10 an hour and having to pay for their seven kid’s education, having to pay for all of their health care, providing them with nice parks and community facilities which are non-existent in Mexico, having to provide them with cheap housing, having to provide them with food stamps, having to clean up the air because their car doesn’t pass the smog test.

Are all of these subsidies really worth the price of cheap fruit?
